Deconstructing the American South-West
I wanted to convey here my personal experience from the many visits to the areas around the Four Corners. The goal was to share with the viewer the profound sense of disorientation that I always felt when visiting the great natural monuments in Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah. A representation through classical landscape photography could not come nowhere near what I experienced; the modulation of color temperature and exposure, with the structural decomposition of the image that follows, helped me convey a feeling of suspension of time and awe, but also of "tranquil unease." Describing the latter pictorially was the most exciting challenge in this project. The on-line magazine Camera Obscura published an article on this project. The photographs have various sizes, going from 48cm x 33cm to 60cm x 250cm.
